WATCH: Grandparents for Marriage Equality

Even though Governor Christine Gregoire signed a bill on February 13th making gay marriage legal in the state of Washington, hate groups are already working furiously to place a referendum on the November ballot in an attempt to overturn it. In preparation for the coming anti-gay storm, a counter campaign that reaffirms the value of marriage equality has begun.

Things kick off with this remarkable video featuring Rev. John Reitan and his wife of nearly 70 years, Dorothy. The couple has nine grandchildren, including two who are adult gay men. The Reitan's explain why they want they want to see all of their grandchildren experience the joy of marriage and the two grandsons explain why marriage is important for gay people, their families, and their congregations.
