Man Plans to Have Sex with Different Guy Every Day for a Year for Art
What is art?
Well, if you ask performance artist Mischa Badasyan, it’s using apps like Grindr and Scruff to seek a different man for sex every day for the next year.
The 36-year-old Russian born, Berlin raised artist says he hopes his performance piece, which he is currently calling “Save the Date,” will challenge ideas of sexuality and homosexuality in the age of dating apps.
Badasyan says the project is inspired by the ‘gay condition’, Taiwanese artists and French philosophy and that he’ll use hook-up apps and sites like Gay.com, GayRomeo, Gaydar, Scruff and Grindr to turn traditional spaces like supermarkets and motorways into places where humans connect by having sex in them.
He says he got the idea for the project after spending some time in Glasgow and feeling “ashamed” for meeting up with men to have sex in parks.
“I would go to [the park] every night and have sex with guys…until 5 o’clock, 6 o’clock in the morning,” he told Mic.com. “And I was always … I felt very bad. I was crying all the time. I am always sad after these kind of meetings.”
Badasyan will be practicing safe sex. He says an HIV organization will be providing him with condoms along the way.
