Taylor Lauter's Shirt Avoids Abduction

By: Michael Matson

As part of the promotional duties for his first name-above-the-film-title role in Abduction, Taylor Lautner gives arty face on the cover of VMan’s Fall 2011 issue.

Shot by top photographer Steven Klein and styled by Nicola Formichetti (the guy who dresses Gaga), Taylor was lit in a sci-fi-meets-noir style similar to what Klein employed in his photos for Dolce & Gabbana’s spring/summer ad campaign. And while the Twilight twink’s inky black hair and Anime features work well with the slightly surreal style, the lack of pecs or abs leaves the images…well, lacking. Lautner’s “no shirt, no service” policy was almost certainly mandated by handlers wanting to present him as a "serious" actor. But they should know that serving up the beef will get more people into movie theaters, where Lautner will hopefully prove himself to be more than a Tiger Beat pinup.
