Andrew Garfield Tells Ellen He's Naked Under 'Spider-Man' Costume

Actor Andrew Garfield visited The Ellen Show Tuesday, where he had an extensive conversation with host Ellen DeGeneres about his form-fitting costume for The Amazing Spider-Man.

DeGeneres said to Garfield that the Spidey suit appears so skin tight it "seems like you would see lines of underwear." She then asked him what, if anything, he wore under the iconic costume.

"It's just me," the 28-year-old actor admitted bashfully. Garfield also said he felt naked while wearing the suit, a feeling he described as 'the worst," especially when paparazzi showed up on set and photographed his bum from every angle.

"One of the first nights we were out in location in downtown L.A. in a parking structure and I knew there were paparazzi taking terrible, unflattering shots of my, you know, everything," he told DeGeneres. "Knowing that your keester is being shot from many different angles makes you very uncomfortable."

The BAFTA-winner also said getting in shape for his role as the web-slinger was a "life change," because he found getting fit isn't as easy as fitness magazines make it out to be.

“I get frustrated with those men’s health magazines, [saying] it’s like in five minutes you’ll be as fit a as fiddle if you just follow those three simple steps and only eat cucumbers,” Garfield explained. “This was hard work. I wouldn’t be able to do it without someone [helping me].”
