CONFIRMED: Lindsay Lohan to Portray Elizabeth Taylor

The Lifetime Network confirmed Monday that Lindsay Lohan will portray screen legend Elizabeth Taylor in the made-for-TV movie Liz & Dick. The biopic recalls Taylor’s tumultuous relationship with actor Richard Burton, who she married twice.

“I have always admired and had enormous respect for Elizabeth Taylor," Lohan says in a statement. "She was not only an incredible actress but an amazing woman as well. I am very honored to have been asked to play this role.”

Lifetime's Executive VP Rob Sharenow added, "We are thrilled Lindsay will portray beloved Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor. She is one of the rare actresses who possesses the talent, beauty and intrigue to capture the spirit of such a provocative icon."

While it's hard to imagine Lohan as the Oscar-winning icon and AIDS activist, we suspect she’ll fare better than Twin Peaks star Sherilyn Fenn did in the 1995 TV movie Liz: The Elizabeth Taylor Story (clip below).
