5 Things That Make James Franco Way Gayer Than You

By: Daniel Villarreal

James Franco is quite possibly the gayest straight dude we know. In fact, two things the actor did this last week made it into our top 5 list of his gayest traits.

So without further ado:

1) HE LOVES GAY ROLES: Did you hear? Franco's gonna play a literal friend of Dorothy as the Wizard in Disney's Oz: The Great and Powerful.

But Franco has also played more overtly gay roles such as beat poet Allen Ginsburg in Howl, Harvey Milk's lover Scott Smith in Milk, the possibly gay actor James Dean and poet Hart Crane in The Broken Tower.

Plus, he's also directed a film about gay Rebel Without A Cause star Sal Mineo.

When asked why he's attracted to gay roles, Franco told Entertainment Weekly, "Part of what I’m interested in is how these people who were living anti-normative lifestyles contended with opposition. Or, you know what, maybe I’m just gay.”

Travis Mathews, the director of steamy hipster porn film I Want Your Love, revealed this week that Franco and he are collaborating on a "homo-sex-art-film" that Mathews says will "ruffle some feathers."

Franco has also examined male sexuality in his art exhibition The Dangerous Book Four Boys as well as in his rapey film adaptation of Anthony Hecht's poem "The Feast of Stephen."

Franco will also play the controversial gay pornographer Robert Mapplethorpe in an upcoming biopic which will round out the actor's arty gay porn cred rather nicely.

3) HE'S KISSED MALE CELEBS: While Franco's roles have sometimes included gay sex scenes, he also kissed a few guys during his appearance on Saturday Night Live.

It's actually pretty exceptional considering that some Hollywood actors still refuse gay roles for fear that they'll lose their "masculine" sex appeal, disappoint fans, and get refused future parts.

4) HE ROCKS THE EYE-SHADOW: With ruby red lipstick, arctic blue eyeshadow and a cigarette held by his black leather glove, Franco frikkin' owned the second issue of the trans magazine Candy—dang gurl! Werque!

He also appeared painted in pink on the cover of the German magazine Spex which, while less glamorous, was still a nice shade of color on him.

5) HIS BROTHER: Could it be possible that Franco's interest in gay porn also inspired his little brother Dave to play gay chicken with Chris "McLovin" Mintz (twice) and to literally eff himself in on video?

After all, James did once make out with himself in a video too (shown below)—oh, lucky mirror!
