Madonna is Afraid to Wear Her Newest Costume
Madonna has never been one to shy away from controversial topics, but Contactmusic.com reports the singer is backing down from her decision to wear a Muslim bridal dress in an upcoming music video over fears for her safety.
Dubbed the “Terror Bride” outfit – a combination of a US soldier’s uniform and a traditional Iraqi bridal veil – Madonna’s costume for her “Superstar” music video was meant to be a statement against war and the oppression of women.
However, Contactmusic.com reports the 54-year-old singer’s advisors quickly talked her out of her controversial costume choice, pointing out that it would likely cause outrage and her personal safety could become an issue as a result.
“Madonna had the outfit ready to go,” a source told Contactmusic.com. “She was really proud of it and said it was her ‘Terror Bride’ Costume. At first when people started telling her it was madness she just brushed it off. But when they mentioned that her actions could put her life at risk she decided to ditch it from her video and certainly won’t be wearing it on stage.”
However, as fans might expect, Madge isn’t backing down quietly and even hinted at the possibility of donning her ‘Terror Bride’ outfit in the future.
“She was really disappointed,” the source added. “Even when she said she wasn’t going to go ahead she winked that it was being put aside ‘for now’.”
