The Advocate Counts 2012's Most Followed LGBTs on Twitter
2012 was certainly the year of the LGBT.
There were memorable comings-out, such as those of CNN host Anderson Cooper, actor Matt Bomer, and the plethora of Olympians, like U.S. soccer player Megan Rapinoe.
We also declared victory for marriage equality in three states during the November election, which also saw Wisconsin’s Tammy Baldwin elected as the first openly gay member of the U.S. Senate.
We’ve come a long way since the time we feared arrest for simply having a cocktail together. The country loves us! But let’s face it, if it weren’t for visibility in the media, we would surely not have advanced as quickly or as much as we have.
That’s why it was so important to research and deliver the year’s most “wanted” LGBTs. See who made the list below, tabulated and presented by The Advocate Art Department.
