How Gay Crooner Steve Grand Is Changing Catholic Minds

By: Brandon Voss

Gay country music sensation Steve Grand seems so comfortable with his sexuality — just watch his hot new video "Stay" — it's easy to forget that the “All-American Boy” used to sing Christian songs at his local church in the tight-knit Catholic community of Lemont, Ill.

But according to a new HuffPo article, many church members have applauded the former underwear model for his courage to sing proudly about being gay, and his priest considers him a model Catholic.

"I think he’s changing our community, he’s changing us," says Father Kurt Boras, priest at Steve's church. "I’ve never seen this before. It’s opened up conversations with me that are unbelievable, really. A lot of folks have come to me and said, ‘I have a gay daughter, a gay son.’ This young man has really opened up some conversations that maybe I would never have had as a pastor and they’re coming and saying, ‘Can we talk to you?’”

So what about Steve's videos does the priest have problems with? The whiskey and beer drinking!
