Jake Gyllenhaal Considers Gay Rumor a 'Huge Compliment'

By: Brandon Voss

It's been way too long since we've had some juicy Jake Gyllenhaal news.

E! Online reports that on a new episode of Inside the Actors Studio, which airs Sept. 19 on Bravo, Jake chats with host James Lipton about playing a gay cowboy opposite the late Heath Ledger in Brokeback Mountain. “Heath and I knew each other for years before that because we had both auditioned for Moulin Rouge together,” he recalls. "And I remember thinking, ‘I like this guy. He’s just like, super lovable.'” He adds that losing Heath was like “losing a family member” and that he still misses him ”to this day.”

Asked about the gay rumors that swirled after the film, for which he earned an Oscar nod, the 32-year-old Prisoners star says he took it as a "huge compliment."
