Lily Tomlin Thinks Beyoncé Sells Sex to Teens
Beyoncé is one of the biggest stars in the world today, but that doesn’t mean everybody likes everything she does.
Case in point — Lily Tomlin.
The 74-year-old actress was recently asked by PrideSource what she thought of Beyoncé as a modern day feminist icon. She answered: “She is a pretty popular woman and she's married to a very powerful man, but she's still selling sex. She's selling a lot of sex to teeny-boppers.”
When the reporter noted that “The Beygency" (the Saturday Night Live sketch about a secret government agency who takes down anyone who doesn't like the pop diva) might take issue with Tomlin’s comments, she backtracked slightly.
“Oh, shit,” she said. ”I like her! I don't dislike her! But I don't pay any attention to that because - I mean, she's fantastically beautiful and dances, but, you know, it's very suggestive. If I was a 10-year-old, I would try to emulate her like most 10-year-olds do.”
Tomlin then acknowledged that she really doesn’t know much about Beyoncé or her husband Jay-Z, but then later in the interview joked that her character Mrs. Frizzle from The Magic School Bus could take out Beyoncé’s sister Solange in an elevator fight.
Netflix recently announced that Tomlin would be reteaming with her 9 to 5 costar Jane Fonda for the new series Grace and Frankie, which starts shooting in August.
