Danny Noriega: Too Much To Handle?
It's Danny Noriega's bad luck that he had his make-or-break moment on American Idol the same night as Christian Siriano was declared winner of Project Runway: I guess America had had its fill of petite flamboyant boys with flat-ironed hair for the week.
But honestly, didn't he deserve to go? His rendition of "Tainted Love" was just so...effete. I mean, it's not exactly a song full of vim and vigor, but neither is he: he's got Christian's "whatever" attitude without his inherent talent. He's got drag queen pageant winner written all over him; just check out his audition performace of "Proud Mary".
Would it be a more interesting show if he stayed? Fo' shizzle. But America showed last year it's only going to tolerate the oddities for so long. And despite the fact that he could sing, I think Danny was his own worst enemy.
