Christian TV Host Comes Out
Call it the "Luke McFarlane" effect: the host of the The Remix, the Christian world's answer to Cribs but with a host, has come out of the closet.
Azariah Southworth - dig that name - knows that this means the end to his career in Christian broadcasting. As I'd never heard of him, I tried doing a search for him and/or his program on parent network NRB's website as well as JCTV -- it might be there, but as far as I could tell, he is dead to them (although the show's Myspace page is still up like nothing's happened: www.myspace.com/theremixtv)
But alive to us, and say Amen! It takes balls to come out, but even bigger ones to come out and walk away from Christian TV, and the chance to hob-knob with stars like Shane & Shane and Jars of Clay... As Southworth told Tennesee's Out & About newspaper, "This has been a long time coming. I’m in a place where I’m at peace with my faith, friends, family and more importantly myself. I know this will end my career in Christian television, but I must now live my life openly and honestly with everyone. This is my reason for doing this,” Southworth says
He goes on to mention the "other gay people in the Christian industry"...ooh baby...bring on the Armageddon!
