Watch now: Lance's New PSA for GLSEN
(Getty Image) GLSEN just released a new public service announcement starring Lance Bass, and it's getting a lot of buzz. The PSA is intended to raise awareness about the National Day of Silence on April 25, which this year will be in memory of Lawrence King, a 15-year-old from Oxnard, Calif., who was shot and killed in class on Feb. 12 because of his sexual orientation and gender expression.
The PSA’s Script:
Every day thousands of students are silenced.
They are silenced by fear.
They are silence by being who they are.
They are friends. They are classmates.
They are brothers. They are sisters.
They are gay. They are straight.
They are you. They are me.
They are silenced by anti-lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender bullying and harassment.
On April 25, their silence will be heard around the country.
Hundreds of thousands of students will participate in the National Day of Silence.
This year the Day of Silence is dedicated to the memory of Lawrence King, a 15-year-old from California who was shot and killed by a classmate while sitting in class.
Friends say he was murdered because he was gay.
Whoever they are, whatever their backgrounds or beliefs, these students will take action because they believe the bullying and harassment must end. What are you going to do to end the silence?
