Yikes -- "Runway" Moving to Lifetime?
Do you know where Lifetime is on YOUR satellite provider? Better find out, because Project Runway's producers are leaving the Bravo catwalk for a trip down the Walmart-of-TV-networks aisle, Lifetime.
There is of course a lawsuit: Bravo/NBC doesn't want to let go. They are suing The Weinstein Co., claiming they signed with Lifetime while still negotiating with them. Whatever. PR was going to move off of Bravo at some point, but most likely it would've been to something a tad more classier, like NBC itself. After all, "Runway" did just win the first Peabody Award ever for a reality show.
Now I watch a lot of TV, and I'm not all that picky...but hearing that one of my favorite shows is moving to a network that I consciously avoid brings up interesting issues of brand loyalty for me. Do I want MY show sandwiched in between a rerun of Golden Girls and a Melissa Joan Hart TV movie? I think not. But to be fair, I did check out the Lifetime TV website...and every fear was substantiated when a big picture of Reba McIntyre greeted me on the homepage. And just below the PR announcement was a "how-to make your own crochet boutenniere" lesson. Sorry - but Reba and crocheted boutonnieres are neither fierce nor fabulous.
I'll be surprised if the PR team actually can make it work on Lifetime. I'm sure they'll schedule it right next to "Will & Grace" reruns...you know, for us.What do you think? Will you follow PR over to Lifetime? Vote now in our poll!
