Prop 8 Rally Gets S.B.C'd

That's shorthand for Sacha Baron Cohen'd.

In character as Bruno, a gay fashionista from Austria, Cohen mingled with the enemy at a rally supporting Prop 8 on Sunday in front of L.A.'s City Hall. Being a huge fan of Cohen's, I am giddy at the prospect of him exposing Prop H8ters as total morons.

It's hard to tell exactly what is going on in this clip, but one thing seems pretty clear: the rally was hardly a monster success. And once it was discovered that Cohen was there, well that became the focus more than "saving marriage". There's something reassuring, and strangely American, about the fact that a straight Jewish actor can completely disrupt a Christian/Mormon-based gathering by posing as a gay Austrian fashion victim. (And I love that you can hear people shouting, "It's Bruno!", like they know who he is...I mean, do they?)

The Prop 8 rally is only the latest in a string of ambushes by Cohen in preparation for his upcoming movie, Bruno: Delicious Journeys Through America for the Purpose of Making Heterosexual Male. He's recently caused havoc at fashion shows in both Milan and Madrid, where he stormed the catwalks with a surprising degree of success. 

Now if only he could get to Sarah Palin as his Ali G character...based on her performance on that Canadian prank call last week, she would be pure putty in Cohen's very large comic hands.
