That’s right, the social networking site favored by collegians and your parents alike is launching a new advertising strategy of celebrity-endorsed limited edition gifts. For the uninitiated, gifts are joke images of items you can post on your friends’ walls. Often Facebook will feature a free gift promoting a specific brand or
movie.

But let’s face it, there’s enough free stuff on the Internet. Facebook needs to get paid. And Britney is a sound brand, despite her predilection for train wrecks; Circus recemented her status as a dominant pop star with a historical context. She can no longer be dismissed as a here today, gone tomorrow pop sensation.

To continue expanding their cool-kid cachet, Spears fans can now purchase limited edition badges bearing her likeness or related icons to post on their profiles. Our favorite: a rainbow-striped balloon with a B for Britney Pride. She’s never shied away from supporting her gays.
