Gay TV on a Wednesday Night: The Mama’s Boy on ‘Modern Family’
We heart Wednesdays. It's the best night of gay TV ... really, just plain great TV. Aside from utter Glee devotion hour, creator Ryan Murphy's first series, Nip/Tuck returns for its final season and a lady from a place where everybody knows your name makes her mark as the mad mom on Modern Family tonight. Plus supercute Mika sings on Letterman. It's a perfect night to stay in, especially if it's cold and rainy outside, and enjoy the favorite TV night of the week.
On The New Adventures of Old Christine at 8 o’clock, ‘80s hottie Corbin Bernsen guest-stars as -- what else -- a lawyer. He's actually a hyperaggressive divorce lawyer who convinces Chrisitne (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) that Barb (Wanda Sykes) owes her alimony.
Later, the moment we wait for with bated breath all week: a new episode of Glee on Fox at 9 o'clock. The gloves come off when Will (Matthew Morrison) goes toe to toe with Sue (Jane Lynch) for control of the Glee Club. Sue forces the kids to compete against each other. Greek hunk Zack Lively pops up in tonight's episode. Plus, from the looks of the preview, Quinn Fabray's got it rough.
At the same time, ABC has another fresh episode of Modern Family. This week the eclectic famly’s mom is revealed, and it's a very familiar blond from that bar show, Cheers. Mom's been missing ever since an "incident" at Jay (Ed O'Neill) and Gloria's (Sofia Vergara) wedding. Bonus: Our favorite "city mouse," new dad and Costco convert Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson), is a mama's boy! Yes!
Then at 10 p.m. on Bravo it's getting down to the final few on Top Chef: Las Vegas. They're in for a tough challenge, and not just because of bulldog judge Tom Colicchio. Guest judge Charlie Palmer will grill the chefs on their offerings for a "pigs and Pinot," or pork and wine, challenge.
On FX, the fascinating dark drama about the powerful surgeons behind costly cosmetic procedures returns for its final season. Nip/Tuck premieres its sixth season tonight at 10. How will doctors Sean McNamara (Dylan Walsh) and Christian Troy (Julian McMahon) go out? Most likely in a crazy way. We want to watch.
Fans of the word fierce or fashion reality shows won't want to miss Chelsea Lately tonight when Handler hosts former Project Runway winner Christian Siriano at 11 on E!. Later on the Late Show Dave's got a pretty sweet evening with our favorite glasses-gal Tina Fey, because 30 Rock is back October 15, and a performance by the bisexual babe Mika. Comedy fans or anyone with a funny bone might want to tune in to Late Night With Jimmy Fallon for the legendary Monty Python troupe on NBC at 12:35 a.m.
Tell us: Who's your favorite character on Modern Family? What Wednesday night shows are you watching?
