Viewers won't have to wait long -- only about six weeks until Golden Globe–winning actor James Franco makes his daytime television debut on the long-running ABC soap opera General Hospital.

The actor has worked steadily for over a decade, winning fans with popular roles in the Spider-Man films, Pineapple Express, and Milk. He was last in the news for studying queer cinema at New York University. Franco's character debuts November 23 and will be featured regularly on the series over the next couple months. Insiders say Franco will commute to Los Angeles from New York once a week to film his scenes.

Franco's friend Steve Burton, a star of GH, confirmed the casting rumors with a Twitter post. A representative for the ABC daytime drama simply said Franco's first episode will air Monday, November 23.
