Gay TV on a Thursday Night: Dolly Parton, Cheyenne Jackson

The weekend is almost here, and pretty soon there will be holiday celebrations and obligations galore, so it is your pop-culture duty to soak up as much entertainment as possible before then. While some of us are still swooning over the musical male members of the Glee club -- and ladies like Lea Michele, no? -- Thursday has arrived, and with it new and exciting gay characters, actors, and favorites popping up all over prime time. Project Runway airs part 1 of the season’s finale, gorgeous and talented gay actor Cheyenne Jackson debuts on 30 Rock, and the divine Dolly Parton is on the late-night schedule. Best gay night of TV ever? Watch and let us know!

Start out the night with some FlashForward on ABC at 8. Aside from the cute cast of Joseph Fiennes, John Cho, and hot hobbit Dominic Monaghan, FF boasts the only lesbian on prime-time broadcast TV other than Grey's Anatomy's Doc Zona. ABC Thursday night is literally representing. Tonight Mark (Fiennes) has to cut out on his romantic getaway with Lost's luscious Sonya Walger when he has a chance to nab the mysterious tattooed assassin from his flash. Hopefully we see our favorite FBI broad, Janis Hawk (Christine Woods) tonight too.

By request, we are back on the fang-fan beat! In The Vampire Diaries, also on at 8, on the CW, things get tense in Mystic Falls tonight. The mysterious new history teacher Mr. Saltzman (Matt Davis) fraternizes with student Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) and his Aunt Jenna (Sara Canning). The girls get all uppity over the medallion, and badass Damon (Ian Somerhalder) lets Stefan (Paul Wesley) know exactly why he's back in town.

After last week's I love you’s were whispered by our favorite lesbian couple, Calzona, on Grey's Anatomy, we're very sad to see them ominously missing from the previews. Is it safe to assume the lovely ladies are safe from domestic disturbances for this week’s 9 p.m. episode on ABC at least? We can hope. Less steady are the combative Christina (Sandra Oh) and Owen (Kevin McKidd), who butt heads yet again, over a new surgeon recruit. Izzie (Katherine Heigl) comes back with someone from her past in need of medical attention as well.

If you're a fan of Cheyenne Jackson, you won't want to miss 30 Rock tonight at 9:30 on NBC. Not ony does Top Chef hottie Padma Lakshmi shwo up, but as a new player cast on TGS, Jackson will upset the wacky dynamic between talent and staff with his easygoing attitude. Interesting timing for the gay actor’s debut episode following 30 Rock star Tracy Morgan's offensive stand-up routine last week where he called being gay "a choice." Will you still watch?

At 10 there's a bit of a standoff between a Bravo standard and a little fashion show that went rogue, known as Project Runway. Lifetime premieres part 1 of the finale of the sixth season's reality design competition. As the top three all-female finalists prep for their Bryant Park collection debuts, mentor Tim Gunn will provide some last-minute tips and pursed lips. Never a good sign.

On the second episode of the fresh fifth season of The Real Housewives of Orange County, the dramatic ditzes don't stop even for a moment. Gretchen Rossi and Tamra Barney continue their feud, this time wrecking Lynne Curtin's party/event. Either they really live to prove one of them is pettier and more classless than the other, or Bravo producers pay them to be brats by the episode. Maybe a mix of both? Regardless, it's still a guilty pleasure for many gay fans of the reality franchise.

Also, available this month on here! on Demand is the highly anticipated full third season of the dark vampire drama The Lair. Catch up with vampires way too hot (and gay) for any tween PG-13 vampire flicks. The third season begins with Thom (gay actor David Moretti) more resolved than ever to break free of Damian (gay actor Peter Stickles) and the vampires at the Lair. But will the lines between good and evil be as clearly drawn by the end of the season? Find out in The Lair, complete season 3, available now on demand or streaming now on for premium members.

On late-night couches, you won't want to miss The Jay Leno Show (for a change) because lesbian-fave beauty Penélope Cruz chats, but more important, DIVA ALERT: The timeless icon Dolly Parton is set to appear! Set the TiVo for 10 on NBC to catch Miss Truvy herself. Revive us now. Later on The Tonight Show, green superhero Al Gore and Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons chat with Conan before cute crooner Jason Mraz plays us a ditty. On a new Chelsea Lately at 11 on E! Brit tabloid queen Katie Price is going to talk. Maybe Handler will get some good dirt, one boozy babe to another? We don’t mind a whore with a sense of humor.

Tell us: What Thursday shows thrill you week to week? Will you remain a 30 Rock fan following Morgan's comments? Which vampire series satisfies your bloodlust: The Lair, True Blood, or The Vampire Diaries?
