Hot Laughs: Jason Lee and Will Arnett Return to TV
Fans of irreverent and quirky men populating the small screen have something to look forward to soon. Two of the funniest men of sadly canceled television series, Jason Lee (My Name Is Earl) and Will Arnett (Arrested Development), are both prepping new TV vehicles with some A-list collaborators.
Dark, handsome, and multitalented Justin Theroux is writing and considering directing Space Invader, a new comedy for Fox starring Arnett. Theroux has been on-screen as the hot Irish killer Seamus O'Grady in Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle and notably penned winning scripts for Tropic Thunder and the forthcoming Iron Man 2.
Space Invader centers on a man who decides to follow his longtime girlfriend, whom he suspects of having an workplace affair. The hitch: Girlfriend's an astronaut and work is deep space!
The handsome comic duo are already set to team for an upcoming episode of NBC's Parks and Recreation, which stars Arnett's real-life wife, Amy Poehler. It will be a recurring guest-starring role for Theroux.
Another returning TV funnyman is Jason Lee. The Mallrats and Vanilla Sky actor actually has two series in the works. The first, set to air on TNT, is executive-produced by superstar George Clooney.
Delta Blues follows Lee as a Memphis policeman who enforces law by day and impersonates the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis, by night. His character happens to still cohabitate with his dear old mother as well. The show is produced by Warner Horizon, Clooney's production venture with Men Who Stare at Goats director Grant Heslov.
Lee also cocreated and is producing a new program for popular cable destination Adult Swim on Cartoon Network. The live-action comedy show, which Lee will direct and star in, takes place in the skateboard scene; Lee was in the pro skate world prior to acting.
