Gay TV on a Tuesday Night: Melrose Place & Tabatha's Salon Takeover

Sort of sadly, we will not be welcoming December with a traditional viewing of A Charlie Brown Christmas. It will be preempted, as will all the major network programming, at 8 p.m. so we can all hear a few words from our president concerning the future of our troops -- something that affects us all as Americans. After the serious matters have been tackled, there is some fun on tonight to break the tension. Concern yourself with far less dire issues like Amanda Woodward's scheming on Melrose Place or bra-strap strut skills on the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. We've got the guide to gay TV on tonight for you.

At the top of prime time, President Obama addresses the nation from the United States Military Academy at West Point. ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, and others will all air the speech. Experts predict the president will focus on his recent decisions regarding the United States' strategies and troops’ presence in Afghanistan.

After that serious business, it doesn't get much fluffier than an episode of Melrose Place on the CW around 9 p.m. Amanda (Heather Locklear) extends her grasp on the gang when she takes over Sydney's empty penthouse in the building. She also has a fateful reunion with Dr. Michael Mancini (Thomas Calabro). Meanwhile opportunistic Ella (Katie Cassidy) manages to score Jonah (Michael Rady) a job based entirely on her powers of persuasion.

At 10 our favorite bitch is on Bravo telling it like it is to deluded stylists and hair salon owners on Tabatha's Salon Takeover. This time Tabatha Coffey lays down the law for a wayward shopaholic salon owner who's in desperate need of a reality check before she bankrupts herself. Additional Coffey cuteness: Bravo.com's got a rocking photo slide show of the icy blond’s look as it’s evolved through the years. Tabatha was hot in the ’80s!

In the same hour CBS has the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, which is always a bit of a pretty spectacle. It's kind of like a Miss America pageant, but with discernible talents on the decked-out ladies -- the hugely successful models can strut. Top names like Alessandra Ambrosio, Miranda Kerr, Doutzen Kroes, and Marisa Miller are among the lingerie models at the annual NYC event, and the Black Eyed Peas perform.

Yesterday we mentioned here! TV's series Paradise Falls, about the sexy goings-on in a backwoods Canadian resort town where everyone has their eye on someone and secrets just beneath the surface. There are three juicy seasons to catch up on via here! On Demand or as a Gay.com premium member. If you're familiar with the series, check out "Girlfriends," episode 9 of season 3, when the lovely Yvonne (Chantal Quesnel) returns to town with a BIG secret, of course. Plus Francis (Victoria Snow) finally decides to quit drinking. Let's see how sober life goes for her.

Late night's a little brighter than prime time's lineup tonight, so that's something to look forward to. On E!'s Chelsea Lately it's going to get really fun when Modern Family's Jesse Tyler Ferguson stops by to chat. It could only be better if Cam were there too! Lopez Tonight boasts the beautiful Jessica Alba and a performance by indie rockers the Bravery on TBS. Spider-Man's own Tobey Maguire is on The Tonight Show, but we're more excited to see Conan O'Brien chat up Chris Colfer (Glee's Kurt) on NBC at 11:35 p.m. Over on ABC a Twilight hottie from the New Moon saga, Kellan Lutz, is on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and our comic crush, Community star Joel McHale, ends the night right with Craig Ferguson on CBS's Late Late Show.

Tell us: What did you think of President Obama's address? What Tuesday TV do you watch devotedly?
