How Gay Is ‘Desperate Housewives’ Going?
Dexter ex Julie Benz is making waves on Wisteria Lane lately as a stripper who’s finding salvation in the arms of one of ABC’s Desperate Housewives, Dana Delany.
The pretty actresses have had their first on-screen kiss, and Delany assures fans that the physical relationship between the women won’t stop there. "This is the first time on Wisteria Lane that you'll see two women doing more than just kissing," Delaney tells E! online. "We're taking things to the next level. I get to do it. I'm very honored."
Delany says she’s looking forward to working closely with Benz: “It's fun. I've worked with Julie before. We have so much fun!"
While Delany and Benz explore their on-screen chemistry, fans of the show from out creator Marc Cherry (Golden Girls) are wondering if the series plans to expend any extra focus on Wisteria Lane’s resident gay couple, portrayed by actors Tuc Watkins and Kevin Rahm.
Will the show take a peek inside Bob and Lee’s bedroom anytime soon? Don’t count on it.
"Our country is so conservative that it would be interesting to see how people would respond if we had a real Queer as Folk heavy-duty gay storyline," said costar James Denton. "I'm not sure that anybody wants to risk it. We're not making independent film and we're not on Showtime, so there are certain parameters that we have that other shows don't, for better or worse."
