Oscar Fashion: Flawless or Forgettable? Part 2

There was a lot of staple strapless, a whole lot of big blue (dresses, not Avatar
wins) and the return of close-toed heels on the biggest awards night in
Los Angeles. Take a look at MORE of the most notable gowns and outfits
from last night’s Academy Awards arrivals and decide if the end result
was a FLAWLESS or FORGETTABLE star turn…

Mo’Nique’s blue gown popped even though there were a slew of other women in similar shades. Smurf ser sexxxxay.

Zoe Saldana you are breaking my heart, you gorgeous girl. The top takes my breath away and the bottom punches me in the gut. But I say good for you for going with something daring, something dramatic and something you obviously felt like a million bucks in! I wouldn’t mind trying it on… C’mon you know you loved the bejeweled bodice!

Her highness Mariah Carey always looks so damn high.. I mean, um, hot. Quiet Drumline, your band tux looks a little too big for you. At least it was a subdued, tranquil(ized) Carey compared to the Palm Springs speech fiasco.

Amanda Seyfried. Sigh. Not Kate Hudsonian levels of shutting it down in white. And she’s such a stunning, talented actress, too. Go bigger, dear. Don’t be afraid to grab the horns and tackle fashion to the ground. I suspect deep down you have the presence to pull it off.

Gabourey Sidibe was easily the most interesting and quotable star on movies’ most star-studded night. When it came to her winning Oscar night look, no one could do the duds more justice the Gaby herself: “If fashion were porn, this dress is the money shot. And you know it.” Damn straight. Gab is fab.

Hi, Charlize Theron. Big fan, love North Country. But this rose-colored, rose-busted homecoming strapless dress you’re sporting? I think we both know you can do better than that. Like way, way better. Step it up, if Sigourney Weaver can still look like a firecracker at her age, you’ve got no excuse not to bring it every time with statuesque beauty like that!

So I don’t know if you were aware, but Joel Madden (of Good Charlotte) got to DJ the Oscar’s ceremony. In true Los Angeles d-bag form, he brought his barely-there pin-thin baby mama (Nicole Richie) and left his sunglasses on for the red carpet. You stay classy, Madden's!
