Bye-Bye Ugly Betty, Hello Romantically Challenged

Just days after the final farewell to our beloved Ugly Betty, ABC is set to premiere a new sitcom starring former teen star and top Twitter-er Alyssa Milano.



Romantically Challenged sets Milano as a freshly divorced 30-something attempting to navigate the modern dating world after being married to her childhood (and only) hunny for 15 years.

While I’m no more immune to the charms of Ms. (recently made a Mrs.) Milano than the average person, the supporting straight characters—a romance-aholic sweet dude, a commitment-phobe playa dude, and a cute kinder teacher with a wild-side sister—are utterly tired, as is a squeaky-clean, sensible-looking cast.



Where’s the compelling dynamic brought by a fresh-faced, diverse cast? Where is the gay perspective on dating in a major metropolis? Where are the awesome costumes and color palettes? Clearly this ain’t no Ugly Betty. Guess we’ll just have to get by on Modern Family for now.
