Sam Jones (Kim Catrall) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) together on TV!
Two of my top TV broads of all time have been cast in a juicy British TV movie.
Confession, Geek Out readers: I want to believe. This nerd boy was SUPER into X Files. And not just for the Foxy Mulder (David Duchovony) in all his moody magnificence. Gillian Anderson was the first girl I would (solely in jest) switch teams for . As Scully she was funny, gorgeous, and radiating smarts… and that amazing fiery hair! I still remember that sizzling Rolling Stone cover.
A few short years later, gay men around the world found a kindred spirit in the self-reliant, self-assured, and sexually empowered Samantha Jones, played by leggy looker Kim Catrall. She wore great loud fashions, had hot affairs with sexy studs, and was ever-quick with a filthy (yet funny) comment. She would so be our BFF for brunch and shopping, give or take the rest of the SATC ladies.
Apparently, across the pond they’re smart enough to utilize these two terrific talents.
“Britain's Channel 4 network have announced plans for a four-part series based on best-selling novel Any Human Heart, starring Jim Broadbent, Matthew Macfadyen and newcomer Sam Claflin. The X-Files actress Anderson will take on the part of a British Duchess, while Sex And The City star Cattrall will play a love interest.”
Bully for you, Brits!
