Our Lady Sings The Blues

Cyndi is ready to sing the Blues. I know what your thinking. Can she pull it off? When I recall the sound of female Blues, the deep and rich vocal qualities of Etta james, Billie Holiday and Ma Rainey come to mind.

Recorded in Memphis (of course) the album has appearances by B.B. King, Jonny Lang, Allen Toussaint, Ann Peebles and Charlie Musselwhite. Cyndi says "This is the album I’ve wanted to make for years. All of these beautiful songs, and all of the great players on the album, were carefully chosen because I’ve admired them my entire life. And I knew from the moment Alan Toussaint hit the keys in 'Shattered Dreams' that we were creating something really special."

Worst case scenario: If Memphis Blues ends up sounding like fingers on a chalkboard, somebody should get Basement Jaxx on the line to see if it can be salvaged with a dance remix treatment.
