Mark Ruffalo, one of the stars of the LGBT family flick The Kids Are All Right, is excited about his next “juicy part” in a new film adaptation of Larry Kramer’s semi-autobiographical play, A Normal Heart.

The play chronicles the rise of the AIDS epidemic in 1980’s New York. Read on to find out about his passion for the role of a heroic activist in the film.

MTV.com reports Ruffalo will play gay writer/activist Ned Weeks, who founds a HIV advocacy group. During an interview, he couldn’t contain his excitement at playing Weeks, who he called a “fighter.”

“To see someone who really does change the world by his commitment,” the actor said, “there's still a real power in that. I love that it's a people-powered movement that actually changed the way our government looked at this epidemic.”

Ruffalo also shared that Glee’s our creator Ryan Murphy was also on board for the moving movie, though in what capacity, he didn’t say.
