Razzies Aimed at Gay Icons
Madonna and Bette Midler are probably happy they didn't release a film last year. Nominations for the 31st Annual Razzie Awards have been announced and three bona fide gay icons, Barbra Streisand (Little Fockers), Cher (Burlesque), and Liza Minnelli (Sex and the City 2) made the cut for worst supporting actress. The dubious awards, considered the anti-Oscars, cheekily "honor" the worst films and performances of 2010, and it should be noted that all three actresses have previously won Academy Awards as best actress.
Which other gay favorites made a big showing at the Razzies?
Besides Minnelli, Sex and the City 2 received nods for worst picture, worst screenplay, worst director, a collective worst actress nomination for stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon, as well as attention for worst screen couple/ensemble, and worst prequel, remake, rip-off, or sequel.
Among other gay faves was Gerard Butler, nominated for worst actor for his performance in The Bounty Hunter. Among his competitors are Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson for Twilight Saga: Eclipse and their turns in Valentine's Day and Remember Me, respectively.
The Razzie winners will be announced on February 26, the night before the Academy Awards. For a full list of nominees, click here.
