Female Gladiator Joins Liam McIntyre in Spartacus: Vengeance
Details on the new season of Spartacus: Vengeance just keep coming.
As you may already know, Liam McIntyre (pictured below) has taken over the role of Spartacus after the previous lead actor, Andy Whitfield, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in March of 2010. News of the actor switch understandably saddened fans, but according to show creator and executive producer Stephen S. DeKnight, the new Aussie actor was even given Whitfield’s blessing to continue the role. "[Whitfield] got in touch with us and said, 'I love this story, I love the character, and I want to see it played all the way through, and you have my full support to do that."
Another new addition to the popular Starz series will be a “beautiful [and] vicious” female gladiator—who will be more than capable of holding her own as she maims the men of the arena. Casting news and plot details on the new femme fatale are still top secret, but according to TV Guide, “She’s a passionate competitor—both on the battlefield and in the bedroom.” Could this mean we’ll be seeing a lesbian gladiator in Vengeance?
This boost of girl-power will join the lovely Lucy Lawless, who will be returning for the new season along with Viva Bianca as the villainous Ilithyia.
The new 10-episode season of the sexy Spartin has already started filming in New Zeland and will pick up where Spartacus: Blood and Sand left off.
Spartacus: Vengeance will premiere on Starz in January 2012.
