Week in Geek: Tron 3 Gears Up, a Dr. Who Xmas, and More

By: Jase Peeples

These are the nerdy bits of news that had us geeking out this week.

Garret Hedlund Confirmed for Tron 3
Tron fans, get ready to grab your identity disks once again. Not only is Tron 3 (light) cycling our way soon, but Garret Hedlund has been confirmed to reprise his role as Sam Flynn in the follow-up film to 2010's Tron: Legacy. No news yet on whether or not key cast members such as Olivia Wilde and Jeff Bridges will return as well, but Joseph Kosinski is slated to return to the director’s chair. Find out all of the latest deets by checking out NextMovie’s interview with Mr. Hedlund. I know I’m looking forward to seeing the gorgeous Garrett back on The Grid once again. Who’s with me?

I’m Dreaming of a Doctor Who Christmas
The good Doctor gets his very own 2012 Christmas special to help Whovians around the globe celebrate the holidays in style. Newsarama has a spoiler-free breakdown of the Xmas adventure and swears this very special episode is one of the funniest of the modern Doctor Who series to date.

And while we’re on the subject of holiday TV specials…

The He-Man & She-Ra Christmas Special Is a Nightmare?
We all know the Star Wars Holiday Special wins the title of worst Christmas special of all time. (Seriously, there’s never been a bigger disturbance in The Force.) However, io9.com’s Rob Bricken makes a compelling (and hilarious) case for why The He-Man & She-Ra Christmas Special is a close second.

Was The Amazing Spider-Man a Mess?
I’ll admit, I was too busy drooling over the adorkable Andrew Garfield and his amazing assets to notice half of these blunders, but nevertheless, the video “Everything Wrong With The Amazing Spiderman In 2 Minutes or Less” totally made me LOL more than once.

Yes, Lara Croft Is Still Fierce!
Of course she’s no Nate Drake, but Ms. Croft’s upcoming adventure looks insane in the latest trailer.

OMG! Street Fighter X Mega Man?!?!?!
This can only be described with 3 words:
