Jean Paul Gaultier Channels Stylish Gay Icons of Pop

By: Brandon Voss

More than 20 years after creating Madonna's legendary cone bras for her Blond Ambition Tour, Jean Paul Gaultier is clearly feeling nostalgic for classic pop music of the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s.

Using female models, the French haute couture fashion designer's eye-catching new print ad pays homage to performers Madonna, Grace Jones, Boy George, and David Bowie at their most recognisably iconic.

Not a bad Boy George and Bowie — gotta love an edgy drag king!

The ad follows the same outrageously retro style that the gay designer recreated to debut his spring/summer ’13 collection at Paris Fashion Week, where a lady Michael Jackson lookalike also strutted the catwalk.
