Why read when you can get red?

RuPaul became the first face of MAC's Viva Glam campaign, which raises money and awareness for HIV/AIDS, in 1994. Almost 20 years later, Ru is once again promoting her signature burgundy lipstick and a new matching lipglass, available here. Yes, honey, the original Viva Glam gurl is back!

Stars like Elton John, Boy George, Christina Aguilera, Eve, Linda Evangelista, Missy Elliott, Pamela Anderson, Lisa Marie Presley, Debbie Harry, Dita Von Teese, Fergie, Cyndi Lauper, Lady Gaga, Ricky Martin, and Nicki Minaj have followed as Viva Glam representatives, but Ru was the first — and don't you forget it.

So what's it take to be a Viva Glam spokesperson? "You have to be outrageous," she says. "You have to have a certain caché that says, 'I’m willing to do whatever it takes to get the message out there.' And In this case, the message is a very important message."

Watch Ru chat about her glamorous comeback — and turn out three costume changes! — in the clip below.
