Old Chinese Choir Covers Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance"

By: Joe Thompson

"Gaga + Old Chinese folks + Macarena = Thank you, internet."

That's the genius opening line from site Shanghaiist, a website dedicated to... well... I don't know. Chinese stuff of interest to people in various US cities? Who can say?

Anyway, the video comes from Hunan Television's Mid-Autumn Festival Gala. At the event, on an elaborate stage, a group of seniors who love Gaga (or have been told the performance will be a hit with the kids) singe Mother Monster's "Bad Romance." They're accompanied by cute little Asian girls in white miniskirts playing glass traditional Chinese instruments.

It's so insane I think our eyes are bleeding right now.

The site explains "the song's chorus lead-in where the lyrics usually are, 'I want your love/Love, love, love/I want your love', gets replaced with 'So busy/Busy, busy, busy/So busy.'" Not sure why. The site makes a joke (?) about this being an old from the old people to their children who have flown the coop or something, but that makes no sense to me. Then again, I'm not a Chinese American so maybe it's an inside joke.

Whatever the case, it's a pretty wonderful way to spend your Tuesday morning, so check it out.
