Week in Geek: Avengers vs. Justice League, 'Poltergeist' Remake is Saved, and more.
These are the nerdy bits of news that had us geeking out this week.
Cartoon Network Pulled DC Nation? WTF?
Fans who tuned in last Saturday to watch new episodes of Green Lantern: The Animated Series and Young Justice: Invasion were left scratching their heads when, without warning, alternative shows aired in their place. Cartoon Network quickly released a statement that both shows would return in January, but no official reason has been given for why the hour-long block of programming was pulled. However, a few unofficial rumors have been floating around as to why the shows have been placed on hold and none of them are positive. Check out Bleeding Cool for all the DC Nation gossip.
Stan the Man!
The one and only Stan Lee sat down for a great interview with MTV Geek at last week’s New York Comic Con. The legendary creator talks about his World of Heroes YouTube channel and much more. I swear, it’s impossible to keep from smiling when this man speaks. Check it out.
Justice League and The Avengers Get Ready to Rumble!
Rumors have been flying for some time, but the Los Angeles Times reports Warner Bros. has not only given the green light for a live-action Justice League movie, but also a potential release date of Summer 2015. This means the DC superhero team-up flick will go head-to-head with The Avengers sequel which is planned for the same release date. Let the battle for the silver screen begin!
Sam Raimi Directing Poltergeist Remake
Let’ be honest. 90% of the time, remakes of classic films totally suck (looking at you Nightmare on Elm Street). However, hearing Sam Raimi (The Evil Dead, Spider-Man) will be directing the remake of Poltergeist gives me a bit of hope the film won’t be a total disaster. Let’s just hope there are a few tasteful nods to the original and they’ve got to keep a couple of those quotable lines we love as well. “Don’t Go Into the Light, Carol Anne!” (How many times have you used that one to keep your drunk friend from leaving the bar with a disastrous hookup before?)
