Nike takes us Back to the Future
The self-tying shoes from the future—famously worn by Michael J. Fox (aka Marty McFly) in Back to the Future II—have arrived before their time thanks to Nike.
The shoe manufacturer will be auctioning off 1,500 pairs of the futuristic footwear, known as the Nike Mag, on eBay with proceeds going to The Michael J. Fox Foundation.
Daily auctions will consist of 150 pairs over a 10-day period, but if you plan to incite geek-envy in all your friends you’ll need to act fast. The first 150 pairs went up yesterday, September 8, at 8:30PM PST and fierce bidding wars are already underway.
With rechargeable LED lights and a light-up Nike logo blazing across the strap, the Mag has been designed to replicate the same shoes Marty McFly wore in the classic time-traveling flick in every detail.
