Vote: Does Sean O'Pry Deserve Another Golden Iris Award Nomination?
Sean O’Pry has been named top male model in the world—again!
After holding second place for the past two years, Models.com—the leading and most influential fashion model site—on Friday named O’Pry the number one model in the world. But the Georgia-born beauty has been a top boy before.
In 2009, Forbes magazine named O’Pry the top male in the world and he was the first winner of Eye Candy’s Golden Iris Award for Fashion Model of the Year. Though the 22-year-old has been one of the most visible male models in the world since being discovered five years ago, 2010 was a bit of a letdown for Seano fans. The jobs he chose were heavy on big money catalog gigs and light on the artistic editorials that helped made him a fashion star in the first place.
This year, Seano got his groove back: He’s upped his editorial work by posing for top lensmen, starred in some of the year’s most memorable campaigns and even graced the March cover of Details magazine. All of this would normally make him a shoo-in for a 2011 Golden Iris Award nomination. But there’s a hitch in his giddy up.
The Golden Iris Awards currently has a policy of not awarding the same nominee in a category more than once. The award is only three years old and the goal is to spread the love around. With the nominations just two months away, we are whittling down the list of contenders and cannot ignore O’Pry’s outstanding year. That’s where you guys come in.
Should we make an exception to our “one win only” policy this year? Keep in mind that a nomination for O’Pry would replace one for another lead contender like Rob Evans, David Gandy, River Viiperi, Andrej Prejic, Ben Hill, Zhao Lei and Sebastian Sauvé.
