A Fun And Easy Way To Do 200 Crunches. No, Really.

By: Daniel Villarreal

You might think that only a ripped gym bunny could do 200 crunches in a row, but you'd be wrong.

In fact, we bet we can get you to do 200 crunches in a row in less than a month, if you're willing and have a buck.

Check out , one of four Gym Fu iPhone apps that challenge users to get in shape by working towards impressive goals—in this case, 200 crunches.

First, the app teaches you how to do a perfect crunch—laying down with your feet on the ground and your knees up and then lifting your chin and chest upwards so that your stomach muscles contract as your shoulder blades lift from the ground.

Then, by placing your iPhone on your chest, Crunch Fu keeps count of the number of every crunch you do. The secret is the iPhone's accelerometer which detects whether the phone is laying down or at a tilt each time you do a crunch.

Crunch Fu starts by seeing how many crunches you can do and then sets up sets every other day that challenge you to do more and more crunches.

It keeps track of your daily progress, tells you when to slow down or when you're only crunching halfway and even lets you challenge other Crunch Fu users to battles in which you two go head-to-head to see who can do more.

We tried the app and not only did we get a great regular ab workout on the way to 200, but after 200 we started trying crunch variations to work our obliques and lower abs as well.

It's worth checking out. And if you want to increase your ability to do squats, push-ups or pull-ups, Gym Fu has apps for those too.
