POLL: Why Are HIV Rates so High Amongst Young Gay Men?

By: Daniel Villarreal

"Young people from 13 to 24 years old contribute to more than a quarter of the country’s new HIV infections each year," so says the Centers for Disease Control. And 72 percent of those infections are happening to gay men.

The numbers are so high, that an AlterNet article recently called it "The Shocking Second HIV Epidemic Among U.S. Gay Men That No One Is Talking About."

World AIDS Day was just last week and so now's a good time to ask, "Why are so many young gay men getting HIV?" We've thought of a few possible reasons and put them down in the poll below so you can share which one you think is most to blame.

But if we've overlooked the cause completely, please share your thoughts in the comments. Our very lives may depend on it.
