Lance Wants to Pitch
No, not that way...he wants to pitch an idea for a same-sex couple dancing competition.
He told eonline.com's Mark Malkin that while he thinks it would be "silly" to pair him with a man for his upcoming stint on Dancing With the Stars, because "it would just be like making fun or something", he does go on to say that "if it was another show with all guys dancing and all girls dancing, that's a different story. I think that's sexy. I should pitch that."
Damn straight; who out there doesn't want to see Dancing with the Queers? Nothing silly about that.
The former boy-bander does display a rather grounded attitude about his new job, one that will put him under the gay microscope as the first out contestant on one of the country's favorite shows. "I think it's so important for me to do this," he says. "But my biggest concern is I just hope it doesn't hurt the gay community in any way because, you know, we definitely can be scrutinized and picked apart. I definitely feel a responsibility of making sure I represent well."
And we want you to do well, honey, but just so you know, I'm probably rooting for Rocco DiSpirito the one week he'll be on, and then I may move my support to Cloris Leachman. Then there's Kim Kardashian, who I find strangely fass-cinating.
But you gotta think that the *NSync'r has an advantage. I mean, all those terrible choreographed videos and shows he did with Justin and crew? If the band bear Joey Fatone could come in second, Bass must have a decent shot at winning, right?
Not necessarily. He goes on to tell Malkin, "Bass says he was ridiculed by his bandmates for being the group's worst dancer. "The guys always told me how terrible of a dancer I am, so I kind of just wanted to prove to myself that I could learn something crazy," he say.
So he's rehearsing like crazy with partner Lacey Schwimmer...perhaps too hard. He says when he gets home at night, his boyfriend Sebastian Leal "really wants to learn" the dance moves (uh-huh) but he's too tired (uh-huh). "All I want to do is sleep and eat", he says. In the words of *NSync, bye-bye-bye.
Dancing With the Stars premieres on Sept. 22 with a three-night premiere.
