Will we always love Winona Ryder?

I will always love me some Heathers. In high school, I too used my great IQ to decide what color lip-gloss to wear and how to hit three keggers before curfew.” (Minus the lip-gloss part, duh.)

And the only thing that got me to look away from Zachary Quinto in Star Trek was the “Oh sh*t!” moment of seeing little Lydia of Beetlejuice all grown up and aged as Spock’s lovin’ Mama. Didn't she look SO crushed when they killed her off? She thought she'd be seeing sequel money!

The ‘80s It girl is once again garnering heavy buzz, as I'm sure you've heard, after being cast as the lead in Ron Howard’s next flick CheatersEW says the o.g. pixie-esque brunette beat out Kate Beckinsale and Uma Thurman, who flew herself in to the audition for the highly sought after role.

All right, you’ve got my attention again, Veronica Sawyer. And this time it’s not for shoplifting.

But is it really going to get her a certified comeback?

When's the last time she successfully filled a theater? And come to think of it, Thurman and Beckinsale aren't exactly ruling the box office lately either. Where have all the leading ladies gone? Sandra Bullock can't do it alone.

We gays love to get behind a good comeback (Cher), and we appreciate our icons, even with a bit of crazy (Mariah Carey) but you have to actually deliver a good product.

Here's hoping Winona wins with this one. So does she have a second (third? millionth?) shot at full fame?
