National Coming Out Day:Writes of Passage
"Writes of Passage" is a new editorial section on Gay.com honoring National Coming Out Day. While NCOD is officially held on October 11th, we are celebrating the event during the entire month of October. Here are the fast facts on the project and how you can be involved:
WHAT
Write yourself a letter—a note from the person you are now to the person you were a year before you came out. Offer your younger gay self the advice, support, encouragement and perspective that you wish you’d heard and known before taking that major step. These pieces can convey history—what your life was like during that year before you came out; emotion—what struggles you faced; as well as offering insight into who you are today.
LENGTH
Letters should be 100-1,000 words long.
DEADLINE & SUBMISSION
ASAP. We've already gotten a number of great submissions but we'd love to hear from you. Submit your letters to NCOD@gay.com. If we can use your letter, we'll let you know.
WHERE CAN I READ THESE LETTERS?
Letters will be published October 1-31 on Daily.Gay.com in our National Coming Out Day section.
Check back daily for new entries!
