Make It A Combo
So your alarm went off and you hit the snooze one too many times.
You toss around the idea of skipping the gym -- since you won't be able
to have a full workout -- and heading to Starbucks for a venti caramel
latte and a banana nut muffin. Don't do it!!
Even if you can't do your
normal lifting routine, you can always squeeze in a good workout by
combining two exercises into one. One example of this is combining a
cable row with a lunge -- a great way to work out your back, biceps,
and legs. Not to mention challenging your balance and a getting your
heart pumping.
1. With your left hand, grab the handle
of a low cable pulley. Stand far enough away from the pulley so when
your arm is extended the weight is lifted. Place your feet in a lunge
position; right foot front, left foot back.
2. With your
left arm extended in front of you, perform one lunge, bending both legs
90 degrees. Next, tighten your abs and pull your left hand toward your
body as you come up from the lunge, lifting your right knee straight up
and straightening your left leg.
3. Return your right
foot back and straighten your left arm in front of you. Once your right
foot touches the ground, lunge and repeat the whole sequence 10-15
times. Switch sides and complete another 10-15 reps. Try performing 15
pushups between sets to get a quick chest, tricep and shoulder pump.
