Keeping It Clean with Menemas

Okay, so here's the dirty truth: as gay men, we know that sex can get messy.

Some guys freak out about it, while others accept it and move on. But however we deal with it, we all basically know that it's just the way things are—the price of doing business, if you will. Right?

Well, Fleet Laboratories has released Fleet Naturals, which are used for "Elective Rectal Cleansing" and they're targeting it to men. Especially gay men. Which is why we're calling it a "Menema."

According to the press materials, 4% of the general population, and one in five gay men, do elective rectal cleansing. And while those of us in LA suspect that every gay guy we meet is a porn star and we all know they clean up their act prior to performing, that large a number means that regular gay guys are doing it, too.

Yay us! The gays are setting trends as usual.

Fleet Naturals is drug free, fragrance free, and is formulated for daily use (it's not the Fleet Laxative Enemas in the green box you're used to seeing). But what we love most is that Fleet is actually marketing this product and talking about it so openly.

Let's face facts: society is so hung up about butts that they can't talk about anything having to do with them. Anal sex, health, or cleanliness—they're all topics we're told to avoid, and in each case that avoidance usually ends up causing people problems.

But Fleet is producing a product that guys need and want, and they're publicly talking about it.

So good on them and their menemas. And good for you, too.
