Vintage Hunk: Robert Conrad

From 1965 to 1969, gay men indulged in the weekly treat of the too-tight-to-breathe pants Robert Conrad wore as secret service agent Jim West in the TV series The Wild Wild West.

Though Conrad had minor success in the late '50s and early '60s as a recording artist, he got more mileage as an actor who removed his shirt, displaying a taut, athletic physique.

By the 70s, Conrad was a beloved (if not campy) icon of American machismo, both as the NBC team captain for six editions of Battle of the Network Stars, and by famously daring consumers to knock a battery off his muscled shoulder in commercials for Eveready.

Check out more hunky pics of Conrad and an Eveready battery commercial below. Come on, I dare you.
