Travel to any country on the globe that publishes gay men's magazines and you'll find covers shot by Rick Day. Visit any retailer that sells photography books and you'll find volumes by Rick Day. Go back through Eye Candy since it began two years ago and you'll find more than a dozen posts featuring the work of Rick Day.
More than any of his contemporaries, Rick Day's photography is the most published and re-posted in global gay media. And in 2010, his work became even more omnipresent via multiple magazine covers, campaigns, and the publication of his second book, Pioneers. Gay men (and straight women) respond strongly to Day's work, not only because he shoots some of the world's hottest guys, but because he has mastered a perfect balance of artistry and titillation. His work has a subtle, unmistakable style that's unpretentious enough for the blue collar set yet savvy enough for fashionistas. Achieving that balance takes real skill.
