Olivia Newton-John Book Signing in New York This Friday
Did you know the amazing Olivia Newton-John, Grammy Award-Winning recording artist and star of Grease and Xanadu, has written a cookbook? She has. It's called LivWise: Easy Recipes for A Healthy, Happy Life and she'll be signing it at Barnes & Noble, at the corner of 18th Street and 5th Avenue in New York this Friday, April 27th, at 6:00PM.
According to the press notes, "Livwise is a cookbook of simple, easy recipes for a healthy, happy, and balanced lifestyle by Olivia Newton-John." Newton-John is described as a woman who "radiates health, positivity, and well-being." True enough. And I knew if I met her I would ask, "How do you do it, Livvie?"
Because, you see, in my fantasy world we're close enough that I could call her "Livvie" like all her close friends do in my imagination. Sadly, since we're not friends and I can't do that, I have Livwise, where she explains her belief in the importance of a healthy diet in order to maintain wellness and balance. "This book will introduce you to ways of eating and living that will keep you in good health and happiness. These simple, wholesome, tasty recipes are the ones that Olivia loves to cook for her family—some created in her own kitchen and others contributed by nutritionists, friends, and chefs at her Australian health retreat, Gaia."
As with many of Newton-John's ventures, royalties from the book go to The Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre. She's been raising funds for this center for 10 years and has already raised nearly $200 million; it will finally open in June 2012 in Olivia's hometown of Melbourne, Australia and deliver a comprehensive range of cancer services, all under one roof. It will include purpose built facilities for cancer treatment, education, training and deliver international research programs of all types of cancers. A dedicated Wellness Centre will provide complimentary therapies that will work alongside the latest medical treatment - to help heal the whole person - body, mind and spirit.
So if you're in New York, head out this Friday before dinner and clubbing to buy your copy. If not, you can always order one through Amazon.com.
