WATCH: Tom Cruise Shirtless and Singing in 'Rock of Ages' Trailer

By: Joe Thompson

Okay, we never thought Tom Cruise could look sexy as a long-haired, head-banging rock star, but he kind of does! In the new trailer for Rock of Ages, the film adaptation of the hair band jukebox musical from openly gay director Adam Shankman, Cruise performs Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive"— and he looks and sounds pretty great. Between this and Cruise's previous success on Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, we could be seeing a positive turn for the star's career, which had been tarnished in recent years after his erratic behavior on programs like The Oprah Winfrey Show.

This is Cruise's movie musical debut and he comes to Rock with a powerhouse cast that includes Russell Brand, Mary J. Blige, Paul Giamatti, Alec Baldwin as an excitable club promoter, Julianne Hough and newcomer Diego Boneta as aspiring performers and young lovers. In addition, Catherine Zeta-Jones plays a religious zealot determined to shut down the club, and she belts out Pat Benatar's "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" along the way.

Rock of Ages opens June 15. Check out the trailer.
