WATCH: Shirtless Bromance in Lorde's 'Royals' Video
While the entire world goes bonkers over the royal birth of Kate and William's baby boy, rising pop artist Lorde has a new song reminding us commoners that "we'll never be royals" — and that's definitely OK with her, because there are other ways to live large.
The New Zealand singer-songwriter is getting a lot of attention with her new Love Club EP, especially the melodic indie pop tune "Royals." The video centers around two working-class guys doing some of the things that buds do best during a heated suburban bromance — play fight, shave each other's hair, and aimlessly hang around shirtless in a melancholy mood. The lyrics and video imagery provide a nice mix of social commentary and bro-on-bro eye candy.
"And we'll never be royals.
It's a word that I would love.
That kind of lux just ain't for us, we crave a different kind of buzz."
