WATCH: Antibullying Anthem Benefits Straight But Not Narrow

By: Brandon Voss

For the release of his new single, "Someone You Love," Indian-American singer Arshad Aslam has teamed up with Straight But Not Narrow, a non-profit antibullying organization founded and run by Aslam’s buddies Josh Hutcherson and Avan Jogia.

"Dedicated to Jamey Rodemeyer... and the countless others we have failed," the video explores the potentially devastating effect of school bullying — and the simple acts of kindness that can help stop it.

"The song is about believing in yourself when an outside force is bringing you down," says Arshad, an actor best known for MTV’s Zach Stone is Gonna be Famous. "I came across an article about a boy named Jamey Rodemeyer who committed suicide because he was harassed and bullied so badly for being gay that he took his life. It is absolutely unacceptable that our society is still letting things like this happen. Although he is gone, his light will always shine and his story will live on and help others. I hope that 'Someone You Love' can help anyone who is going through a hard time."

All proceeds from the iTunes sales of "Someone You Love" will be donated to the Straight But Not Narrow campaign to fund awareness programs.
